The wonderfully thick pages are full of stories of people and places, and spaces to escape to. And it's just the right size to fit in your bag, too!

A nice little mention

We had a nice surprise this morning when we received an email telling us we'd been mentioned in Issue 13 of the Mollie Makes Magazine. The very talented Nancy Straughan has been featured so be sure to pick up a copy and take a look when the magazine is released tomorrow. I'm a big fan of Nancy's clean, fresh style and use of soft geometrics. If you're in to sewing take a look at Nancy's shop - those linens are beauts! If you like what you see on the magazine you can sign up for a subscription here. The front cover on the sampler is the one that Adam and I were featured in!

Nancy is one of our tutors at the Studio and it was great to get a little mention. Nancy will be teaching a printing class in the Studio on Saturday 19th May. It'll be lots of fun! Take a peek at photos from a previous class and email us to book your own printing party.

Instore at Shipshape Studio :: Oh Comely Magazine

oh comely magazine

oh comely magazine
Shipshape Studio is proud to now be stocking Oh Comely magazine. Issue 9 is instore now!

If you haven't seen a copy of Oh Comely before you're in for a treat. The magazine describes itself as 'a magazine that makes people smile, full of quiet moments and stories' and it's true. The paper is silky and luxurious. There's lots of blank space surrounding the articles and images that lets your mind wander and think. It's as if you're transported in to a suspended reality where your imagination can tumble along and wander on new thoughts. It's a lifestyle magazine for men and women and focuses on the things that make life real. We've already had good feedback from boys and girls who've purchased Oh Comely for the first time.

Try it, it's a good one.

We had a tote printing party at the Studio today and it was great fun! Nancy is a great teacher and the ladies in the class made some cute and bright printed bags. Aren't they great? Drop me a line at events@shipshapestudio.co.uk if you're interested in textiles or printing classes and I'll send you some info.

Hope you're all having a good weekend.

P.S. I blogged about Nancy's work as part of the Saturday Link Love feature over on my personal blog, Handmade by Emily. Take a look if you're interested in design and the crafty lifestyle.

Event :: Illustration and Design Forum

illustration design forum
We're very pleased to announce we will be hosting an Illustration and Design Forum on Sunday, 15th April. The event is great for anyone who is interested in a career in the creative industries and there'll be a chance to ask our panel any question you might have. The illustrators and designers on the panel will be talking about their experiences and advice. There'll be a good mix as they work in different ways - with an agent, a collective, freelance, in house - so you'll get to hear about different career paths and opportunities. They'll also cover topics such as social media and marketing yourself. And it'll be fun! Earlybird tickets are available so book now to get your ticket at the reduced price.

For more information and to book visit our event page.

I thought I'd share some pictures of the Shipshape Studio Launch Party with you. It was a great evening, and we met lots of lovely local folk and arty crafty types, including the ladies from Duck Pond Market and The Joy of Vintage.

We made some special Shipshape Studio cocktails for the night which seemed to go down very well, and they looked very cute lined up on one of our craft tables.

It was great to share a couple of cocktails with Michael and Lindsey of Panther Club. They are both super-duper talented and Michael, who also works under the name Otherscenes, designed our website. Ella Masters, illustrator, jewellery-designer and blogger extraordinaire, also popped along with her Dad and was wonderful as usual. She is one of those warm, friendly people who puts you right at ease and is bloomin' funny too. Ella will be teaching jewellery making and illustration classes at Shipshape Studio, and you can sign up to them by clicking here. We also met Dominic Clifford, a local illustrator and screen printer, who brought along some of his prints to show us. Be sure to go and check out his work!

People seemed to be in the mood to shop and we sold lots of work from Handmade by Emily, Fritha Strickland and Sandra Dieckmann, which are all stocked instore and will be in our online shop too.

We look forward to seeing you at Shipshape Studio soon!
